8 Ways to Get Your Curlbaby Used To Getting Their Hair Done!!

We all know how challenging and frustrating “wash day” can be for our little ones! And US!! You struggle to keep them still and free of tears and what seems to be a simple hair washing and styling process soon turns into a nightmare! I think we’ve all been there!!

Below you’ll find a list of 10 tips and tricks to try in order to solve the problem of an antsy, uncooperative child on “wash day.”

1. START YOUNG..

I‘ve had some people tell me that I should have started when my daughter was as young as two months old. And, I think they’re right! The sooner you start, the better because they’ll be used to sitting still to have their hair styled! So I may be a little late in this area! But, consistency is key!! Your little one will eventually be “trained” to sit still on wash day!

2. GIVE THEM A TABLET OR PHONE..

Kids loveee YouTube these days! So why not, let them watch one of their favorite shows or play a game while they’re getting their hair done! If you’re one of those moms who wants to limit your kids exposure to phones and tablets, try giving them a book that they like! Or, only letting them use the phone or tablet on wash days!

3. BRING OUT THE TOYS...

Bring out their favorite toys, car keys, crayons—any and everything that will keep their attention while they’re getting their hair done!

4.  GIVE THEM A SNACK...

Try giving them a fun, creative snack that will keep their attention! For example, shaped fruit or fruit decorated like an animal, or their favorite piece of candy! My daughter loves lollipops so that was enough for her to sit still at the hair salon and get her hair done!

5. TAKE THEM TO THE HAIR SALON..

Little girls love feeling like they’re a “big deal.” Lol! And, they love copying off of mommy. So why not take them with you to the hair salon! When they get in the chair, tell them that it’s their “special seat”! I thought my one year old was too young to go to the hair salon, but she did such a good job! She didn’t fuss or cry like she does at home! I plan on taking her every two weeks! Kids also love routines! So get them into the habit now (refer to tip #1).

6. DO THEIR HAIR WHILE THEY’RE IN THE BATHTUB..

Bathtubs are a great distraction! You can wash it and style it all while they’re having fun in the tub! Throw in their favorite bath toys and let them splash while you do their hair.

7. TRY TO AVOID HANDLING THE HAIR ROUGHLY..

Being rough with coarser hair types is not good for the hair. It could actually be on of the reasons why your little is experiencing breakage. Also, it usually leads to more tears and resistance from your child, making “wash day” more stressful for the both of you.

Try parting the hair in smaller sections and using a wide tooth comb to detangle, in addition to Grow & Flow products which help with detangling. Also, try adding the Grow & Flow hair growth to the conditioner and letting it sit for about 30 minutes and then rinsing well. This will help to soften the hair and make it more manageable.

8. USE GROW & FLOW DETANGLING HAIR PRODUCTS

Soo many customers who have kids are raving over how easy it is to do their kids hair on ”wash day” now that they have Grow & Flow! Grow & Flow products help to promote growth, while also softening the hair and making it more manageable. They are great at detangling the hair, which saves up to 45 minutes on wash day. And, they smell amazing so your kids are going to love it!!
